History Our Work with Children The Future |
|
Jacj Cuisi is a recent acquisition for CIWY. It is a 300 hectare reserve which was purchased in late 2008. Its location is key for the development of CIWYs work, as it is linked to the Madidi National Park (a 1.8 million hectare reserve), giving scope for potential reintroduction programs. It is located 45 minutes’ drive from Rurrenabaque, on the other side of the River Beni, and has scope for further land purchase if and when funds become available. At present, conditions are extremely basic, with food cooked over a fire and only two buildings constructed so far. Plans for the immediate future are to build a solid infrastructure to the park, to allow the animals to be received, cared for, and where possible, introduced into the forest. There are currently just two pumas located in this park, so the majority of the work for volunteers is focused around construction. Find out more about Volunteering at Parque Jacj Cuisi |
