On arrival he was weak from dehydration, lack of proper nutrition and vitamins. He had a very bloated stomach which was due to worms. He had extremely blue eyes, long fluffy crimped fur with all his black markings and spots. He was running around the refuge headquarters ('the Casa') freely under strict supervision but had a clumsy-looking walking and running pattern. All in all he was very, very cute! Roy has grown and became the strongest puma of the park and smaller in size only to Quirqui (and probably Li-Shu in the near future). He is known as "The Running Machine" since he is extremely energetic and runs most of his trails, accomplishing in a day three to four times that of the other cats. He likes to lie down in small ponds while his volunteers get a little breather. Due to his size he is very confident with other cats and tends to ignore them unless they act aggressively towards him first. Roy's cage is about 70 meters away from Sonko's cage and every morning on the way to the cage you can here them talking to each other. Since their cages are close and they use the same trails they sometimes meet (something the volunteers are trying to avoid). Roy doesn't really care about Sonko since he is bigger then him. In order to volunteer with Roy you need to be confident, fit, agile and good on your feet. Pictures: Back to the animals page To learn more about volunteering, see this page. |
