A few days before Christmas, she arrived at the refuge and decided to stay. After many arguments and much deliberation, her parents finally agreed to let her remain at the refuge. Milka never gave up on her education, she understood its importance and continued to attend the school in Villa Tunari. After school and on weekends she worked in the refuge. After graduating high school, she went on to earn a secretary diploma.

Milka has a lot of patience and love for the animals and she works mainly with the monkeys and birds.

She also works in education and arousing public awareness about nature and the protection of the environment with the children of Villa Tunari and the Chapare area.
